Senator Kamala Harris suspended her campaign on Tuesday,December 3rd due to what she said was money troubles as her campaign moved on.
She said “I’ve taken stock and looked at this from every angle, and over the last few days have come to one of the hardest decisions of my life, My campaign for president simply doesn’t have the financial resources we need to continue. I’m not a billionaire. I can’t fund my own campaign. And as the campaign has gone on, it’s become harder and harder to raise the money we need to compete. In good faith, I can’t tell you, my supporters and volunteers, that I have a path forward if I don’t believe I do. So, to you my supporters, it is with deep regret — but also with deep gratitude — that I am suspending my campaign today.”
What effect is this going to have on the democratic field? Sen.Harris was the only person of color who was considered a front runner which leaves the 6th debate stage all white, which is sparking outrage with her former supporters. This means that the 3 other people of color Sec.Julian Castro,Congress women Tulsi Gabbard, and New Jersey Sen.Cory Booker, especially Casrto and Booker to pick up scraps of Kamala’s campaign so they can add racial diversity to the debate stage and be a promising colored front runner.
About a month or 2 ago Sen.Booker was about to drop out of the race because he didn’t have the amount of money he needed and had low poll numbers so he said that he would be dropping out if he didn’t meet his campaign goal by the end of the month but didn’t seem to say anything on the topic afterwards.
the people who have qualified for the 6th debate are
- Former Vice President Joe Biden
- Mayor Pete Buttigieg
- Senator Amy Klobuchar
- Tom Steyer
- Senator Bernie Sanders
- Senator Elizabeth Warren
Leaving one person who could be considered some sort of minority on that stage mayor Pete Buttigieg who is a part of the LGBTQ+.
